Woman Dies From Leaning Out of Train Window
A 28-year-old woman died after sustaining injuries when she leaned out of a train window this weekend.
The woman had been visiting the Bath Christmas Market on December 1st and was on her way home when the incident occurred.
Emergency services were called around 10:10 p.m. Police believed she suffered a blow to the head from leaning out of the window, but what injured her is still unclear.
Paramedics could not save her life and she died at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We were called at around 10.10pm following a report a woman had received serious head injuries while traveling on a train between Bath and Keynsham.”
“Officers from British Transport Police attended along with colleagues from Avon and Somerset police and South Western ambulance service but, despite their best efforts, the woman died at the scene.”
“Our investigation remains at an early stage, but initial inquiries suggest the woman may have been leaning out of a window when she suffered a blow to the head,” they added.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident, which has been reported to the Rail Accident Investigation Branch. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Police have confirmed the woman’s identity and contacted her next of kin but have not released her name to the public.
