James Bond 25 ‘WILL continue Casino Royale arc, but CHANGES coming’ | Films | Entertainment |

The last James Bond movie, Spectre, left Craig’s 007 on something of a cliffhanger.

Driving off into the metaphorical sunset with Madeleine Swann, just where does he go from here?

Well when Danny Boyle was going to direct Bond 25, it sounds like the star’s final outing as the MI6 spy would have been totally standalone.

However new director Cary, who is still working on the script, has said the film will be a continuation of the character’s arc which began in 2006’s Casino Royale.

James Bond 25 director WON’T rule out Christoph Waltz Blofeld return

Speaking with Inquirer.net, he said: “In terms of what I can bring to change the character, Bond is on a character arc that started with Casino Royale, and I will be carrying that on.

“There will be changes, I am sure. As in any story, a character has to change in order [to have] a narrative.”

On planning action scenes for Bond 25, Cary teased: “A little bit, but not all yet.

“I am trying to get the narrative stuff sorted out and have a good story to tell.”

The director also promised aspects of the 007 formula will still be around.

He added: “Yeah, there will be the things in the Bond-verse that you have come to expect,” he promised. “I can’t say too much, though.”

On working with Craig, Cary said: “Daniel is an incredible actor. Outside of Bond, I have been a fan for years of his work. For me, he was the best part of Road to Perdition.

“In his first Bond movie, Casino Royale, he brought an incredible amount of vulnerability and humanity to the character, which was a big shift from Pierce Brosnan’s run.”

Meanwhile, Cary wouldn’t rule out the return of Christoph Waltz’ Blofeld, who was arrested at the end of Spectre.

He replied: “Who is saying those rumours? We haven’t finished the screenplay, so there is no way that anyone could know that.

“If there is space for [Blofeld] in the story, I would absolutely want [him] there. But I don’t know yet what it’s going to be.”

Bond 25 will be released in UK cinemas on February 14, 2020.
