He may be a villain, but Thor’s brother is a fan favourite and was one of the most tear-jerking deaths of Avengers Infinity War. But Marvel fans will know Loki has faked his own death before in Thor The Dark World. One popular theory claims that Bruce Banner was actually Loki in disguise since he wasn’t able to Hulk out in the movie. Now the Russo Brothers have responded to theories that Hiddleston’s Asgardian survived his demise.

The directors took part in a Q&A after a Hollywood screening of Avengers Infinity War last night.

When asked about the Hulk theory they bluntly replied: “Loki is dead.”

Of course, they could be playing it coy to avoid spoiling Avengers 4.

After all, when asked a question about Vision they shut it down by saying: “Vision is dead.”

Certainly, Hiddleston has been spotted shooting Avengers 4, but it’s possible these are scenes in the past via time travel, flashbacks or Tony Stark’s B.A.R.F. technology.

Sadly the Russo Brothers didn’t talk about the Avengers 4 trailer and threatened to sound a foghorn if asked by anyone in attendance.

Nevertheless, they did reveal why Red Skull became Keeper of the Soul Stone.

They said: “First of all, he had a very mystical ending at the end of Captain America The First Avenger.”

“He’s been on a journey since then. He’s a wraith now, he’s a slave to the stones. He’s no longer the same person. He’s transcendent. He’s a ghost.

“Maybe played around once or twice in it not being him, but we needed someone the audience would trust, so that when he explained the rules of how you obtain the stone, that they would believe the character.”

Avengers 4 will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
