Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite servers will be offline today.

This is to make way for a new update which will add a number of new features to the game, as well as start Season 7 on PS4, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and Mobile.

The good news is that we know exactly when Epic Games are planning to change the server status to down today.

Epic Games has confirmed that Fornite downtime will start this morning for UK fans.

Servers will start to kick players from live game from 8:30am onward, before a complete shutdown 30 minutes later.

This means that Fortnite servers will be down by 9am and will not allow for any new games to start.

“Stay frosty! Downtime for Season 7 begins December 6 at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC),” a message from Epic Games reads.

It’s currently unknown how long Epic Games are planning to keep Fortnite Battle Royale offline.

Due to Season 7 being such a big change for the game, it’s likely that maintenance could take several hours.

Providing a guess, fans might be able to get back online by midday or earlier, depending on how well things go at Epic Games HQ.

As with most major changes to Fortnite, a new update will need to be downloaded and installed.

The size of this has not been confirmed, but you can expect it to vary based on what platform you play the game on.

This will need to be downloaded before you can gain access to the live servers, and will likely go live on all platforms at the same time.

Expect this to pop up on your console, PC or mobile device, closer to the end of the server maintenance period.

More on today’s Fortnite downtime and Season 7 start times will be shared by Epic Games on social media.
