It has been confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is back to being the No.1 selling video game in the UK.

Having held the place before, it was revealed that this week had seen Red Dead 2 on PS4, and Xbox One reclaim the top spot in the UK physical games charts.

It’s believed that Red Dead Redemption 2 saw a big surge in sales recently, as much as a 19% uptick, alongside other major releases.

According to, RDR2, FIFA 19 and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 dominated the charts and made up a large chunk of the sales.

“All three games have sold over one million boxed games in the UK, and combined account for over four million physical games sold,” the site reports.

“It does mean last week’s No.1 – Super Smash Bros Ultimate – has taken a tumble down to No.4.

“It seems like a heavy fall, but actually sales only dropped 52 per cent week-on-week, which is a decent result for a game in its second week on sale.”

And it looks like many games franchises have seen sales growth this week, with Spyro Reignited Trilogy climbing two places to No.6 and Forza Horizon 4 made a 135 percent sales jump.

It’s great news for Rockstar Games, the development team behind Red Dead Redemption 2.

Not only does it prove that RDR2 has some staying power but it also means more potential players for Red Dead Online.

The multiplayer segment of the game is the next major area of the game the development team will be focused on.

A big new update has been promised for early 2019, which is set to bring fresh content and modes to online.

“We have been poring through incoming community input and suggestions and are working on updates for early 2019 to address many popular bits of feedback including some new anti-griefing measures in the works and other updates to improve gameplay balance.

“We are also working on lots of new features, modes and additional Red Dead Online gameplay content updates that we are very excited to share more about in the new year.

“Thank you again to all Red Dead players worldwide for your amazing support and feedback contributions. Please stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks and months.”
