Bethesda has confirmed their plans to launch a new Fallout 76 update today on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
December 18 saw a small patch released on console; however, this was only to apply a limited number of bugfixes and didn’t require downtime.
“We just released an update to bring Korean language support to Fallout 76 on consoles. We did not need to bring the game offline in order to do this, and there will be no patch notes,” a message from Bethesda explains.
“However, this will result in a small download of a few hundred megabytes.”
Today’s Fallout 76 update will be larger and will require server downtime on all platforms.

The good news is that we know what time Bethesda are scheduling maintenance so fans can at least plan their gaming for today.
According to the latest news supplied by the Fallout 76 support team, the game will be going offline at around 12:30pm in the UK.
As usual, during this time, Fallout 76 gamers will be unable to log into or play the game until server maintenance has been completed.
Bethesda has not said how long downtime will last or how big the update will be following completion.
And unlike in the past, there has been no early Fallout 76 patch notes shared in preparation for today’s launch.
This means today’s update could be a big one, providing a new seasonal event for players to enjoy.
Patch notes will not be shared until maintenance starts, after which, they should be posted online by Bethesda.
A message from the support team reads: “We’re planning to bring Fallout 76 offline across all platforms tomorrow morning, around 7:30 a.m. EST, in order to perform maintenance and apply an update.
“During this time, you will be unable to log into or play Fallout 76.
“We’ll post update notes during tomorrow’s maintenance and will keep you updated as necessary in this forum thread as downtime progresses.”
In an earlier post, Bethesda said that today’s Fallout 76 update was to apply more bugfixes, so there might not be much to check out in the patch notes when they are shared.
It was also confirmed that this would likely be the last patch of the year, with more to follow in early 2019.

“As mentioned previously, this patch will continue our focus on stability and other concerns raised by the community,” the Bethesda post reads.
“If we do move forward with this patch, it will be the last one this year as we shift our focus toward updates we have planned for early 2019, which will include new game content, many additional bug fixes, and more changes based on your feedback.”
There has been some chatter online on what Bethesda may have planned next for Fallout 76.
According to data miners, evidence has been found that new items might be heading to the Atom Store soon.
References to new “Lunchboxes” have been found, which are apparently attached to the Atom Currency.
These will reportedly come with in-game boosts that will affect the whole server and not just the person who bought them.
However, nothing official has been shared on the subject by Bethesda, so, for now, it remains a rumour.
