LISTEN: Fake Mexico News, Virgin Voyages Gears Up and More on the TravelPulse Podcast
Better late than never. That’s travel expert Mark Murphy’s philosophy as he returns this week on an all-new edition of the TravelPulse Podcast.
In episode 27, the TravelPulse founder once again sets the record straight on travel safety in Mexico on the heels of some questionable headlines following a recent shooting in Cancun.
“I’m here to tell you that I was literally in Cancun when that took place and I never once worried or was concerned,” said Murphy. “The shooting happened in a bar four and a half miles from the hotel zone in an area where locals hang out. It was a targeted incident, gang-related/drug-related, etc. FYI, it literally happens every day in America.”
Later, Murphy explains why it’s vital that travel professionals have their own branded email and website before diving into some of the latest news in the world of travel, including a bomb threat at Tampa International Airport stemming from a hacked Twitter account, chaos at nearby Orlando International Airport after a man bypassed security and more exciting announcements from Virgin Voyages.
“I can’t tell you how interesting the concept looks on paper. We haven’t been able to see the physical product yet but trust me I will be one of the first people on it. It just looks amazing. I’m totally excited to see how they’re going to change the cruise business,” said Murphy.
“There are so many brands and they’re so unique and differentiated and this is another way to approach the market of cruising. I think it’s going to get people who’ve never cruised to want to take a cruise.”
