With the start of its big redemption changes slowing coming in, players have begun to flock back to Ubisoft’s once-promising online co-op shooter. And for those who still have yet to try the title, The Division is free-to-play all weekend.

They’re already giving away games like crazy this year, and while they might not be taking The Division on a F2P route, a free weekend is as good a time as any to introduce some fresh meat to the game’s cruel PvP modes.

Confident in their decisions, the game’s Steam page barely even needs to say what to expect with the game time. Everything is unlocked and will happily stick around if you decide to add it to your Steam library during or after the event. There’s even a 50% discount over the course of the weekend to ease the blow a little to those Christmas wallets.

Attempting to restore order to a broken world, The Division fell victim to itself. But what brought it back?

For anyone going into The Division blind right now, it’s a generally simple premise. Forever causing problems, Black Friday spells the end for New York City – and the world, while it’s at it. Under the residual effects of a sweeping pandemic, a lack of food and water supplies has sent the city into cause. As a member of ‘The Division’, you’re sent out to restore order as best you can.

The free weekend actually started yesterday. And with it being a fairly large download, you’ll be running out of time if you don’t speed along. The Division’s free weekend stretches from December 15-18.
