UPDATE: Microsoft has confirmed that Crackdown 3 has been indeed been delayed, confirming the rumours we heard yesterday. Originally due to launch this summer, the Xbox exclusive has been pushed back all the way to February 2019.

In an official statement to fans, Microsoft said: “Our fans’ response to the signature antics and explosive gameplay of “Crackdown 3” has been incredible. To ensure we deliver the experience they deserve, “Crackdown 3” will be launching in Feb 2019. We look forward to sharing more on “Crackdown 3″ this Sunday during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing.”

To that end, we can expect to hear plenty more on Crackdown 3 and get a progress update during Microsoft’s Xbox E3 2018 press conference this coming Sunday.

Original Story: 07-Jun-2018 – Crackdown 3 Delayed Yet Again, Launching in 2019 According to Sources

Numerous sources have confirmed that Crackdown 3 has been delayed yet again.

Sources close to Kotaku and Eurogamer have confirmed that Microsoft’s open-world superhero game has hit a bump in the road and now won’t be ready until at least 2019.

Provided this is true, the Crackdown 3 saga is getting a little embarrassing for Microsoft now. Originally announced all the back in 2014, it was due to launch in 2016 but was then delayed to November 2017. At that time it had an explicit November 7th launch alongside the Xbox One X, so it seemed for all the world like it was nearly ready. Just before launch, it was announced that Crackdown 3 had been delayed to Spring 2018, then Summer 2018, and now it’s all the way back to 2019 – a date five years after its announcement.

According to Eurogamer, a grand total of three development studios have had a hand in Crackdown 3. Sumo Digital has been working on the campaign, while Reagent Games and Ruffian Games, developers of the previous Crackdown games, are working on the competitive multiplayer in Crackdown 3.

With Crackdown 3 now shunted aside, it leaves Microsoft’s Xbox lineup for 2018 looking very threadbare indeed. Both State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves have disappointed in their own ways, and Crackdown 3 was the only other notable exclusive we know of. Sony can pretty much afford to sit back and relax, it’s got Microsoft beat with God of War alone. The pressure is on now to deliver one hell of a blockbuster E3 press conference for Microsoft. All eyes are now on Sunday.

Will Crackdown 3 even be onstage at E3? Does this game have disaster written all over it?
