We’ve been provided with our best look yet at Control, Remedy’s attempt to get back onto a level footing after Quantum Break took a few missteps. And, you’ll be pleased to know, the early footage of Control is looking hugely promising indeed.
In the gameplay we see Jesse Faden exploring the Oldest House, the one and only location in Control that serves as the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control. It’s a place where fringe science and paranormal activities have found a home, the house itself shifting and moving around as the player progresses.
Thematically, it all sounds like a bit of a mash-up of The Twilight Zone, Warehouse 13, Fringe and The X-Files. Faden’s the new Director of Control, and she’s armed with The Director’s Gun, a shape-shifting gun, as well as access to various telekinetic abilities.
Jesse can do a lot of crazy shit then, which suits Remedy down to the ground. The studio has long been the masters of slow-motion combat and bullet time, and we see it all used to impressive effect in this gameplay demo that leads to a boss fight.
Control is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019. What do you make of the new gameplay footage? Could this be Remedy back to its Alan Wake / Max Payne heights? Let us know your thoughts!
