And so it begins. Microsoft has announced that Halo: Reach, the first part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, will be launching for PC on December 3rd.
Halo Reach isn’t exactly where the series all began but it is at least the start, chronologically speaking. It’s a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, putting players into the shoes of Noble Six (rather than Master Chief), a member of a supersoldier squad task with defending Reach from Covenant attack. That’s just a small part of the picture, of course, with Halo Reach packing some much loved multiplayer, including PvE Firefight and some of the greatest PvP maps in the franchise’s history.
The full roster of titles will eventually comprise a grand total of six Halo games on PC. It starts with Halo Reach, a prequel, before we’ll eventually get remasters of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo: ODST, and Halo 4. The odd one out is Halo 5: Guardians, a game which still stubbornly refuses to come to PC at this point, One day, Halo 5, one day.
Halo Reach comes to PC and Xbox One on December 3rd, 2019. It’s available through Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass but, in truth, the game itself is dirt cheap anyway. It’s available to pre-order on Steam for £6.99/$9.99, which is an absolute steal for what you get. The system requirements for Halo Reach were revealed a fortnight ago as well, and the good news is you’ll only need a GeForce GTX 770, AMD Radeon RX 480, or equivalent, to play Halo Reach in glorious 4K.
